Running on Resistance

“Our job in this life is not to shape ourselves into some ideal we imagine we ought to be, but to find out who we already are and become it.”

Steven Pressfield, The War of Art

  1. The act or power of resisting, opposing, or withstanding.
  2. The opposition offered by one thing, force, etc., to another.
  3.  The opposition to an attempt to bring repressed thoughts or feelings into consciousness.

Antonyms for resistance:

There is too much self-doubt holding us back from doing what our soul so deeply wants us to do. Those day dreams that keep popping up in our head “one day I would like to do that”, “what if I ..?” or “I would really love to..”, those dreams must be heard and acted upon. At least, little by little, everyday.

What is all that fear about?

Resistance can be the most destructible force you’ll meet. It gives you all the reasons (and even good ones) to not do what you need to do, to keep you away from your dreams. In this illusion, stagnation is safe, and the belief is that nothing will harm you if you just do nothing. Wrong. Everyday you spend away from following your most deep desires is another 24 hours of wasted life. Time doesn’t really stop and you’re never really stagnated, you’re just living against the current of your most honest will.

Find some small thing you can do today that brings you closer to your dreams and just do it. Do it before your brain stops you.

And tomorrow, repeat.

Aristotle — ‘To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.’
